Application Process & Auditions

APPLICATION VIDEO REQUIREMENTS

    1. Choose either A or B:
      1. 1 x 2 min. scene or monologue filmed on video or Iphone.
      2. 1 x 2 min talk to camera about yourself and why you want to attend the course. (Not details that are in the written part of application.)
    2. Upload your video to a video hosting website. eg. Vimeo, Youtube.
    3. In the application form, provide your video url in the space provided.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Choose Australian Scenes, or scenes common to your own background. Find roles close to your own age.
  • Choose a reader that you know well, as we will be looking for your ability to have a relationship with the other person in the scene. Place them as near to the camera, as possible, off screen, thus avoiding placing yourself in profile for the whole scene.
  • If your camera operator is practiced, then move around if it is appropriate to the scene, otherwise stillness is preferable. Use wide shot and close up.
  • PLEASE IDENTIFY YOUR SELF AT THE TOP OF EVERY SCENE (NAME, AGE, WHERE YOU LIVE.)

THE AUDITION

Face to face final auditions and callback dates will be Friday April 27 9.30 am to 5.30 pm and Monday April 30 3pm till 9.30pm. There will be a third round of auditions on Monday May 7, if needed. If you are residing in another city, state, or cannot get to Sydney, you will be asked to complete some other tasks. These will be communicated to you should you be successful in the first round.

FOR AUDITIONEES PRESENTING THEMSELVES AT STANMORE ONCE SELECTED.

  1. Present to panel on day:
    1. 1 x 2 min. contemporary contrasting monologue to suit your age bracket. (Not the one on your application video) It needs to contain some physical activity.Present to panel on day:
    2. You will be asked to perform a scene for two people with another of the applicants, given to you on the day.
    3. You may be asked to perform some tasks relevant to movement and voice.
    4. You will have the opportunity to ask questions of the Panel.

FOR AUDITIONEES UNABLE TO BE IN SYDNEY BECAUSE OF DISTANCE OUTSIDE THE ELECTRIC TRAIN NETWORK.

  1. Same 2 exercises as stipulated in No.1 above, but recorded to video. (Upload and supply us the links to these (ie. Vimeo, Youtube etc).
  2. If selected to audition then present via Skype:
    1. 1 x 2 monologue to suit your age (other than the one attached to your application).
    2. You may be asked to present movement and voice tasks and perform and record a scene for 2 with someone at our end. You will be forwarded the scene.
    3. You will have the opportunity to ask questions of the Panel.

The Audition Panel will consist of Chrissie Koltai, Lisa Schouw, Stephen Wallace and Ross McGregor.

 

COURSE FEES

$8000, which includes the show reel and three three hour sessions per week.
